Outdoor living .....

I took some time to catch up on reading a few magazines the other day. If I sneak away to the beach on the weekend, I'll usually bring a magazine or two to relax and enjoy! I also try to spend as much time outdoors during the summer. This shoot styled by Eddie Ross in June's issue of Better Homes and Gardens was stunning. It is the home of Courtney McGinnis of Clover design. The design duo who met at boarding school and now both reside in Bedford, N.Y. sell modern vintage furniture from the barn.

Creating spaces or "outdoor rooms" is a wonderful way to enjoy the simple pleasures of summer time living and entertaining, here Courtney opens up her home and shares her tricks for entertaining. I'd say agree with them all! I turn to Etsy for vintage dishes and glassware they look much nicer than plastic and paper.

Shelter Loves...

I'm digging places, spaces and "things" that I don't see all over the place! Here are my faves this week! Have a fabulous weekend!!!

1. I mentioned my love of slides this summer, here's another great one. I think I need these
2. I would be very happy wearing this dress, I just know it!
3. I recommended a few chaise lounges to a client last week, this was one of them! We are going with pink scalloped umbrellas and navy seats around the pool!! How damn cute is that going to be?
4. I like rooms kids can grow with. This Becki Owens version has created just that. It's funny to see what rooms on my Pinterest board get the most re-pins and likes, this was one of them!
5. I adore this simple and sweet sentiment. It's also a good reminder not to forget to love yourself.
6. Okay, this necklace is bad to the bone and none of your friends will have it!

Love the look - care-free summer style

You won't hear me complaining much this time of year! In fact, the next two weeks are my favorite!! If I am not designing/blogging I plan to be boating, beaching, and relaxing/dining by the water. I'm continually inspired by Giovanna Battaglia's style! The dress she is wearing is insane!! (let me know if you find it, because I couldn't). I've put together a carefree look inspired by her fabulousness..

Splish - Splash!

Finally, pool days have arrived! I have always wanted an in ground pool. There is a current trend for those who don't have the space, the budget or the time to take care of a large pool and it's opting for a well designed smaller pool. These cuties aren't necessarily for laps but you can certainly relax, drink a cocktail or two and cool off on a hot summer day in one.

Let's take a peek:

Shelter Loves..

Happy Friyay lovies!! I just realized this post is exploding with color and pattern. I guess that's what is on my mind this week! One of my goals as a designer/blogger is to create beautiful things and spread joy (yes, corny sounding I know)! Have a great weekend and Father's Day!! xx

1. I've been into simple but detail spaces lately. This dining area is layered with loveliness. via House Beautiful.
2. Climbing roses. I will grow these one day, I can only hope they would look this gorgeous.
3. If I had more time, I would do things like bake adorable cookies with my daughter. The issue is, I would also sit around and eat them!
4. I enjoy reading on the beach and am in search of a new page turned. I may give this one a shot. Have you read anything that is difficult to put down lately?
5. YES! We all overthink. I've been working on this one! Let it go, we give too much power to our thoughts.
6. This dress - holy cuteness!!
7. I love a good hat, this one from J.Crew is a beauty.

Cottage Love #57 (on a grand scale)

This rambling home located in Illinois is not a cottage per se but embraces a European cottage design. The lofty high ceiling, painted exposed beams and salvaged barn floors (now painted) give the home a warm and welcoming feel. As does the white slip covered furniture, finishes and beautiful textiles. For more on this beautiful home and the full story visit Traditional Home

Love the look - to the beach!

Hooray for summer! It has finally arrived and I'm looking forward to quite a few days at the beach this year. Today's look has a bohemian vibe with a nod to the past. I'm loving this relaxed look. A cooler full of drinks and snacks, a speaker with a great i-phone play list, sunblock, and a towel will complete the check list.

1. I swear my Mom had sunglasses just like this back in the late 70's! I love them!
2. I always wear a hat to the beach to protect my head and face. I've started a collection!
3. How cool is this cover-up by Pierre Prey for J. Crew? They have some amazing collaborations.
4. I wear chemical free beautycounter sunblock 365 days a year. I have recently switched over to Dew Skin tinted face cream too. It provides the perfect amount of natural coverage and protects my skin! You'll love it!
5. The name of this Joie sandal is La Plage Nice. It's also almost 70% off at Shopbop's most current sale!!!!
6. I bring a small bag to hold my keys, phone, radio, lip balm, sunblock, and money, it fits perfectly into my larger beach bag.

and BTW!! This is a fabulous Shopbop sale with some amazing deals!

By the sea

I'm back in business with my own computer and software today! (whoo hoo). I was feeling lost for a few days without my digital world at my finger tips. It is, no joke, about a zillion degrees in Boston today. It seems every year we go from 60 to 99 in a few days and we northerners are never really prepared for the shock of the temperature shift. I am not complaining, but a few 80 degree days would be fabulous!

I am sitting in the AC and was delighted to come across The Glow's site. The Glow, an intimate diary and stylish guide about motherhood and all it's glory and heartache was co-founded by Violet Gaynor and Kelly Stuart. It documents both the struggles and joy with Kelly's beautiful photographs and Violet's warm words. Today, I am sharing the airy, lighthearted images of Kelly Sawyer Patricof, their beautiful Malibu beach house and Kelly's adorable daughters.  See the additional photographs and the story here. Kelly is a former model and co-founder of the non-profit Baby2baby.
